"I wish breast protection was available when I played sports."

In 2018, Suzie Betts, Founder of Boob Protect, discovered painful lumps in her breasts which required biopsies and surgeries. Doctors thankfully confirmed they were non-cancerous and most likely caused by impacts from sports in her youth.

After her medical scare, Suzie realized that many female athletes may unknowingly face long-term breast health issues from playing sports.

With her two daughters playing contact sports, she decided to take action. Working with experts in medicine, sports as well as female athletes, Suzie developed prototypes which she later patented to launch Boob Protect, filling a crucial gap in female sports protection. The inserts are thin, lightweight, designed to ‘cup’ the breasts for support and fit comfortably in any sports bra, alleviating impacts and preventing injuries that can affect both on-field performance and participation in sports for female athletes.

Boob Protect inserts also negate the potential for long-term breast health issues from impacts in sports.

Suzie’s message to athletes, parents and coaches is clear: “Prioritizing breast health can prevent pain and serious health issues down the line. Don’t wait to make breast protection a part of every female athlete’s equipment.”

Normalize the Conversation.

Suzie’s journey began as a personal effort to protect her daughters and other female athletes from breast injuries, before quickly growing into a mission to raise awareness and normalize conversations about breast health in sports.

For Suzie, it’s about breaking the silence and addressing a critical issue that impacts female athletes worldwide.

Research reveals that nearly half of female college athletes report breast injuries, yet only a fraction feel comfortable disclosing them or receiving treatment. Many continue to suffer in silence, affecting their performance and long-term health.

With Boob Protect, the first product designed specifically for breast protection in contact sports, Suzie is pushing this vital conversation forward.

As Suzie says, “Breast protection should be as standard as a mouthguard or shin guard.” Her goal is clear: to make breast health a priority at every level of women’s sports.

Be Confident and Feel Empowered.

Women’s sports are growing in popularity, yet major disparities remain in media coverage, sponsorships, and access to essential protective gear. Unlike men, female athletes often lack specialized equipment and support.

Boob Protect seeks to bridge this gap. More than just a product, it’s part of a movement empowering female athletes, raising awareness for breast health and tackling issues unique to women’s sports. By offering the right protection, Boob Protect enables women to play confidently and safely, fostering a community where female athletes feel valued and supported.

The goal is clear: elevate women’s sports by providing equitable resources, so every athlete can reach their full potential.

Is Pain Holding you Back?

Founder Suzie Betts created Boob Protect to give women and girls the protection they need to prevent breast trauma now and into the future. Inspired by her own experience and extensive medical research, Suzie found that female breast protection was overwhelmingly ignored in contact sports.

Breast impact happens in all contact sports and at all levels of play and, just like mouth and shin guards, we aim to make breast protection the new norm in all contact, impact and ball sports.
